CES Digital Model Database

Project type

3D Scanning Workflow

Date

May 2025

Location

Brooklyn Navy Yard

I’m honored to have been able to present my project, “CES Digital Model Database” to the public, twice now, ironically both times at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The response was overwhelmingly positive and it was amazing to be able to expose the public to Gaussian Splatting: demonstrating how we use it in the field of Design at an institutional level, and its potential to be used at a business and personal level. Big thanks to Ajmal Aqtash and Haresh Lalvani of Pratt Institute’s Morphology Department for trusting me with this project as well as Aysu Unal and Emre Ozdemir for allowing me to present this project to the folks at XRGuild. Thank you all and to everyone who helped me get these presentations up and running!

To anyone who wasn’t able to attend, try the website out here:

After 55 Years of building Large Models:
Center of Experimental Structures has run out of Storage Space and in a University setting, we’re always at risk of models being lost or destroyed.

Incoming CES Digital Model Database, a Digital Archive that uses Gaussian Splatting to preserve 3D form and detail for the next generation of students. Accessible through Desktop, Mobile, and XR.
